Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival, City Tour Cusco and Surrounding Ruins
Welcome and Historical Center
Upon your arrival in the city, we will transfer you from the airport to your hotel. After pickup at your accommodation, we will begin the City Tour Cusco. We will begin exploring the historic center of Cusco by visiting the Cathedral, which has a beautiful Renaissance structure and fine paintings from the famous "Cusqueña School". Then we will go to Qorikancha (Coricancha), the main Temple of the Sun of the Incas which is currently also the Convent of Santo Domingo.
Fortresses and Shrines
We will continue the tour leaving the city to visit four important archaeological sites: Sacsayhuamán, a large megalithic fortress located just 5 km away; Qenqo, a mysterious sacred amphitheater and center of worship of the god Puma; Puka Pukara (Pucapucara), the so-called “red fortress” due to the hue it acquires at twilight; and finally Tambomachay, the Inca temple to worship water. After the tour, spend the night at the hotel.
Day 2 – Tour to the Sacred Valley of the Incas
Pisac and Lunch in Urubamba
The tour will begin with pickup from your hotel. We will enter the Sacred Valley, first visiting the town of Pisac, where we will visit its lively market in the main square and surrounding streets, full of shops that sell fine local crafts. Then, we will go up to the archaeological center of Pisac, an Inca city built on the basis of figurative traces of animals. We will continue to Urubamba, where we will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch to taste local food.
Ollantaytambo and Chinchero Fortress
In the afternoon, we will visit the imposing site of Ollantaytambo, a strategic Inca military, religious and agricultural center. On the way back, we will make a stop at the traditional town of Chinchero, appreciating its living culture and architecture before returning to the hotel in Cusco.
Day 3 – Tour to the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu
Trip to Aguas Calientes
We will pick you up from your hotel to take you to the train station in Ollantaytambo (according to the chosen train schedule). We will board the train for a picturesque trip to the town of Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival, our staff will pick you up at the station to take the bus to the gate of the citadel.
Exploring the Wonder of the World
We will begin the guided tour of the most important sites of Machu Picchu. After the explanation, you will have free time to tour the Sanctuary at your own pace and take photographs. Then, we will take the bus back to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you will have free time for an optional lunch (not included) before boarding the train back to Cusco. Night of accommodation.
Day 4 – Farewell and Transfer to the Airport
End of Services
After breakfast at the hotel, and at the time previously coordinated according to your departure flight, we will transfer from the hotel to the Cusco airport. We will say goodbye hoping that you take with you the best memories of Andean culture and tradition.
