Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 – Cusco, Tarawasi and Saywite Complexes, and Camping in Cachora
Pick-up and Archaeological Site Visits
Our grand adventure begins with a pick-up from your hotel at 8:00 AM. We will board our comfortable bus and travel to the town of Cachora. During this scenic drive, we will make cultural stops to visit the impressive archaeological sites of Tarawasi and Saywite.
Descent and Camping
After exploring these important Inca architectural remains, we will begin our descent to the picturesque town of Cachora, where we will set up our first camp and spend the night preparing for the hike.

Day 2 – Hike from Cachora to the Apurímac Canyon and Rosalina Beach
Canyon Descent and Lunch
After a hearty breakfast, we'll officially begin our hike into the imposing Apurímac River canyon, recognized as one of the deepest and most beautiful in the world. This day's trek takes between 5 and 7 hours. Halfway through, we'll stop in the Capulichayoc area for a delicious lunch.
Condor Watching and Camping
During our descent, weather and conditions permitting, we may witness the majestic flight of Andean condors. We'll end our day at the riverbank, in the area known as Playa Rosalina, where we'll set up our second camp.

Day 3 – Demanding Ascent, Santa Rosa, Marampata and Choquequirao
Ascent to Santa Rosa and Marampata
In the morning, we will cross the mighty Apurímac River and begin a challenging climb to the Santa Rosa sector (2290 m), where we can appreciate the local flora, including fruit trees, and learn about the rustic production of "cañazo" (sugarcane liquor). We will continue climbing to the Marampata sector (2850 m), from where we will be able to appreciate, in the distance, the strategic location of the Choquequirao citadel nestled in the mountains.
Arrival at Raqaypata and Exploration
We will continue our trek to the Raqaypata sector, where we will set up camp. In the afternoon, we will finally enter the amazing archaeological complex of Choquequirao to explore it and marvel at its architecture.

Day 4 – Choquequirao Agricultural Terraces and Descent to Chiquiska
In-depth Exploration of the Complex
After breakfast, we'll return to the complex for a detailed guided tour of the gigantic agricultural terraces and learn about the impressive irrigation canal that originates in the upper reaches of Choquequirao.
Return and Hike to Chiquiska
At the time indicated by the guide, we'll bid farewell to this Inca marvel and begin our return to the Chiquiska area. This day's hike is more relaxed, mostly flat with a final few hours of descent. We'll spend the night at our fourth campsite in Chiquiska.

Day 5 – Ascent to Cachora and Return to the City of Cusco
Final Ascent and Snowy Landscapes
We will rise very early to begin our final ascent from the canyon to the village of Cachora. During this descent, nature will reward us with breathtaking views of the Salkantay mountain, the majestic Vilcabamba mountain range, and the formidable Apurímac Canyon.
End of the Expedition
Upon arrival in Cachora, our transportation will be waiting to take us back by road. We will arrive in the city of Cusco at sunset, concluding this unforgettable 5-day expedition.
